Announcements
  • The feast of the Meeting of the Lord falls on Thursday Feb. 15 (2/2). Vigil will be Wednesday evening Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. and Divine Liturgy for the feast will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
  • Archbishop Kyrill will visit the parish on the weekend of Feb. 17 & 18. Saturday evening Vigil will begin at 5 p.m. and on Sunday morning we will greet the bishop at 9:30 a.m. (be there early!).  At the hours on that day, Seraphim Denno will be tonsured to the rank of reader, and Rdr. Daniel Warren will be ordained to the diaconate during the Divine Liturgy. Other events to be announced.
  • Remember to contact Fr. Matthew or Fr. David about having your home blessed during the season between Theophany and the beginning of Cheese Week (March 10).

The extra liturgies will provide our newly ordained Deacon Daniel the opportunity to become proficient in serving.

  • The prelenten period begins on Feb. 25 with the Sunday of the Publican and Pharisee, the week following (2/26-3/2) is fast free.
  • Saturday March 9 at 9 a.m. there will be the Divine Liturgy for the Commemoration of the Departed. If you wish to have names of departed Orthodox family members and friends read in the litany, please submit them in writing to Fr. David prior to the beginning of hours (8:45 a.m.) that day. Lists submitted after that may not be read in the service.
  • Meatfare Sunday (the Great Judgment) on March 10 is the last day that we eat meat before Pascha. The following week (3/11-3/16) is Cheese week and all foods except meat are permitted every day during that week. Cheesefare Sunday (Forgiveness Sunday) on March 17 is the last day fish, eggs and dairy products are eaten until Pascha.  Great Lent begins on March 18.
  • On Forgiveness Sunday (March 17) there will be the Forgiveness Vespers immediately following the Divine Liturgy.
  • Monday through Thursday of the first week of Great Lent we will chant the Great Canon of St. Andrew at 6 p.m. On Wednesday (March 20) there will be the Presanctified Divine Liturgy at 9 a.m.). On Friday, March 22 (and every Friday during Great Lent following) at 6 p.m., there will be Small Compline and the Akathist to the Mother of God followed by a lesson on the Book of Revelation in the parish hall.
  • The first Sunday of Great Lent (March 24) is the Sunday of Orthodoxy. We will concelebrate the Orthodoxy Vespers along with Holy Transfiguration Antiochian Orthodox Church that evening – details regarding time and place will be announced.
  • Presanctified Divine Liturgy will be on every Wednesday during Great Lent: March 20 at 9 a.m. and March 27 at 6 p.m. Those wishing to receive should prepare as usual and fast from all food and drink from midnight (for morning liturgies) or from noon (for evening liturgies).
