an American parish of the Russian Orthodox Church
Announcements
  • We are nearly ready to start on the new roof this summer. We still need the members of the parish to step up and pledge to cover the cost of the new roof.  Please fill out a pledge form for this purpose. We will be taking out a mortgage on the building, however those payments are not within our regular budget and will need to be met monthly.  Every household that is able should make a pledge for some additional amount each month over and above your regular giving to the parish to help meet the construction costs and pay off the loan.
  • The Food Festival is nearly here, May 17 &18. Remember that everyone’s help is needed to accomplish a successful event.  Saturday cooking days: May 4 & 11. During the week of the festival there will be preparations every day – final food preparation as well as setting up the dining tents and cooking areas.  Please watch the Facebook page and website for up to date information.  Announcements will be made at the Sunday services to keep everyone informed of what is coming up.  Also, the festival isn’t over when we serve the last food on Saturday.  After closing we need to disassemble all the outdoor facilities.  The tents, tables, chairs and other rented items will be picked up on Sunday afternoon so we need to be ready.  We also need to get all the refrigerators, freezers, counters and equipment transported back into storage or into the basement.  That will take everyone’s help all day Sunday – please plan to stay and participate.
  • Construction on the new roof is scheduled to begin after Memorial Day, depending on weather. Before construction begins we need to empty the Church (as we did last year).  During the week following the festival and before Memorial Day we will be packing and moving and again your help will be needed.  Please listen for the work schedule to be announced and set aside as much time as possible beforehand.
  • On Pascha, this year, Archbishop Alypy, formerly of Chicago and the Midwest, passed away. Archbishop Alypy ordained Fr. David to the diaconate and to the priesthood.  Please pray that God will grant him rest with the righteous.
