- The feast of our Lord’s Ascension falls on Thursday June 9 this year. There will be Vigil on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. for the feast and the Divine Liturgy on Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
- The feast of Pentecost falls on Sunday June 19. The festal services will be on the regular Sunday schedule. On that day we will celebrate the Kneeling Vespers immediately following the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning. After this, rather than the usual meal in the Trapeza, we will gather at Veteran’s Park for our Perennial Pan-Orthodox Pentecost Potluck Picnic in the Park. As always we have invited the other Orthodox parishes to join us for this event. Please bring plenty of picnic food to share for this event (and remember that the park service does not permit “glass bottles” due to the danger of breakage).
- There will be a parish council meeting on Sunday June 26 following the meal after Liturgy (about 12:30 p.m).
- The feast day of St. John of San Francisco is Saturday July 2 (6/19, os) This year marks the 50th anniversary of his death and there will be a grand celebration at Holy Virgin Cathedral in San Francisco (with the relics) as well as at St. Nicholas Cathedral (where he died) on that weekend, for those who are able to make the trip. There will also be a smaller celebration here with Vigil on Friday evening (July 1) at 6 p.m. and Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday (July 2).
