Announcements
  • Great Lent begins Monday March 3. During this time we keep a strict fast, abstaining from meat, dairy, fish, wine and oil products. During the first week of Great Lent (Clean Week) there will be Great Compline with the Great Canon of St. Andrew every evening at 6 p.m. (Mon.-Thur.) and the Small Compline and Akathist to the Virgin on Friday. Presanctified Divine Liturgies will be every Wednesday during Great Lent (except 3/19) at 8 a.m. Prepare as usual to receive the Mysteries.
  • Small Compline and Akathist to the Mother of God will be sung every Friday during Lent followed by a discussion of the book, The Beginnings of a Life of Prayer by Archim. Irenei (Steenberg). We will read this book together during Lent and share our insights at these discussions. There are some books available in the bookstore ($12) or ask Fr. David where you can order a copy.
  • On Sunday of Forgiveness, March 2, the Sunday Vespers with the rite of mutual forgiveness will be served immediately following the Divine Liturgy. On the First Sunday of Lent, March 9, the Sunday of Orthodoxy, the Molieben for the correction of those in error will be served immediately following the Divine Liturgy.
  • There will be a cooking class Saturday, March 22, from 12-3 p.m. in the church hall. This is an opportunity to come and learn how to make the dishes for the food festival. We also need to be starting the preparations for the festival. Please talk to Elena DeYoung if you are able to come to the class and to see how you can help with this year’s festival.
